Creekside House

The challenge here was twofold: to create a comfortable retirement house for transplants from upstate New York and their furnishings that felt contemporary; and to replace and enlarge an existing tear-down within the constraints of the existing footprint and zoning regulations while maximizing and preserving their view of the creek, their reason for buying the property.

The new house has many of the elements of eastern architecture—barn siding, double hung windows, a screened porch, wainscoting, traditional cabinetry—all with a contemporary twist.  Windows from all the important rooms (living, screened porch, kitchen and master bedroom and bath) look out onto the creek.
